Danielle Howard, CFP®
Molly McMahon, CRC®
Danielle has more than 24 years of experience serving clients in the financial field. With a degree in business marketing, she joined her husband’s life insurance practice back in 1993. Compelled that people needed process before product, she saw an opportunity to help people create healthy financial lives. Embracing that the fall season of a person’s financial life has grown in complexity, she brings her unique expertise and personal experience with the financial, relational, psychological, emotional, and physical facets of the retirement season. She is a Certified Financial Planner™ practitioner and has been trained as a financial life planner with Money Quotient® and is a Certified Kingdom Advisor®.
She writes a personal finance column in the Glenwood Post Independent, and blogs for Market Watch, 60 and Me, Investopedia, and other national publications and websites with the focus on making the most of retirement. She is the author of ‘Your Financial Revolution’ – Time to Recognize, Revitalize and Release Your Financial Power. Speaking to organizations, including Aspen Ski Company and Health Links Colorado, she educates and empowers people to become their next best financial selves. Danielle and her husband, Mark, walk the walk of financial health to the best of their abilities. Mark is in his second round of “rewiring” after leaving a 10-year teaching career in the spring of 2017. They had to make financial life choices along the way to support each other in living out their passions and to fill each day with purpose and meaning.
A Colorado native, Danielle has lived in the Roaring Fork Valley for the past 32 years. She and her husband Mark have four children and live in Glenwood Springs. Danielle loves to cook and host friends and family in their home. Taking full advantage of their community, she and Mark love to get on the rivers, bike, and hike in the summers, and ski, snowshoe, or cuddle up with a good book in the winters. She enjoys travel, and is a fervent student of life, yet relishes her home base in the beautiful Roaring Fork Valley.
Whether it is one individual at a time or serving an organization, Danielle and our team at Wealth by Design, LLC are making a difference. Giving is a foundational component of creating a healthy financial life. Danielle educates non-profits and their donor base as to creative giving strategies in order to embrace and thrive on their journey of generosity. From 2014–2016, she worked with Response in Aspen and the Embrey Family Foundation to create a “Women’s Financial Empowerment Workshop” where she facilitated a four week session on a volunteer basis. In 2015, working with fellow advisor, Partha Iyengar, Danielle underwrote the Life and Money workshop in colleges across Tumkur District in Karnataka, India. The program reached more than 500 women. Working with kids is another facet of Danielle’s generosity journey. She participates with Youth Entity on their Level Two “I am Financial Knowledge” program curriculum. She has trained associates and taught the course at Basalt Middle School, as well as presented the Junior Achievement in fourth grade curriculum for the past several years. She is involved with local churches and faith-based organizations to present financial life stewardship learning opportunities. She speaks locally to organizations with the goal of educating and empowering families around their financial choices and increasing satisfaction in their financial lives. She also provides personalized financial planning services to families struggling with life-threatening health care issues and U.S. veterans. Danielle has given her time and talents to the Board of Habitat for Humanity Roaring Fork, the Valley View Hospital Planned Giving Board, and the Elder Board at Christ Community Church.
Danielle and her husband, Mark, are honored to give financially to the causes and concerns they are passionate about. At least 10% of their personal gross income is invested in charitable organizations with the goal of increasing that amount annually.
